Announcing a large-scale project we are doing at ZKM for 2026: MARS!
Mobilizing Awarenes for Resilient Societies!
This is an artistic research project utilizing partner institutions and local citizen-science initiatives to develop ideas for an analog Mars mission simulation, ultimately to take place for 2 weeks in October in the center of Karlsruhe, Germany: Marktplatz. Why wait for governments and private business to get for the Red Planet? Let's make our own plan, decide how we would live, what we would do, and how to do it. We don't go to escape Earth but out of hope for both planets. Let's solve hard problems for Mars that we can use for Earth as well. Do It With Others.

- Jan-May: Prototype Sessions
- Jan 23 Habitat
- Feb 20 Mental Health
- Mar 20 Food
- Apr 24 Governance
- May 22 Resource Management (Water)
- Jun-Sep: Concept Werkstatt, opens Jun 5 during GPN24
- 13-26 Oct: Durational Performance on Marktplatz → Marsplatz
Unlike my previous projects in this area, Heading to Mars and robotcowboy: Onward to Mars, in some ways, we don't know what plans, designs, and ideas will come from our community. As artist, this makes the project much more interesting. See you on Sol 1.
